Writer, mother, instructor and rock star!
"It is the writer who might catch the imagination of young people, and plant a seed that will flower and come to fruition”…Isaac Asimov
This fall Deanne will be teaching Essentials of Effective Writing and more. If you are interested in a class customized for your child please contact her. |
Deanne Brown is a writer, mother, breast cancer survivor, and lead singer in a rock band. With a tattoo of a phoenix on her left shoulder, this bird rising from the flames is more than a symbol of the city from which she hails. It is a symbol of her spirit. As a graduate from The University of Arizona, she landed a job as a writer, trainer and computer programmer for Analytical Management Techniques, Inc. A few years later, with the love of kids and learning in mind, she opened a day care and Pre-school only to find herself moving to California soon after with her husband and three kids where she began a 12 year venture in homeschooling. Deanne’s unique philosophy on education made the front page of the Chicago Tribune, the California Homeschooler and taught Dr. Phil and the hosts of The Talk a thing or two about parenting. Today, her oldest is working towards an Engineering degree. Her second, both writer and drummer, graduated from the Orange County School of the Arts Commercial Music Conservatory, and her youngest is entering the same school this fall for Creative Writing. Whether Deanne is homeschooling, carpooling, training for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for a Cure, or writing her anthology about her adventures in breast cancer, she emerges wiser, stronger and more empowered to find a better way of life. Last year, she hit the road fundraising with The Mammary Chronicles, a two woman show with Raundi Moore Kondo, promoting their co-authored Chap Book, “The Hills are Alive,” while spreading love and awareness about breast cancer. Today she is a published writer contributing to Esteem Yourself E-Magazine and Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Life. She has also taught homeschooling history classes, facilitated book groups and ran workshops at the California HSC conference. Appearing on the Live Big with Ali Vincent Show sharing her story was her latest exploit. You can read about some of her greatest adventures with her family, friends and all-girl band “Daisy Chain” in her blog www.Theyesmom.com.
